ABOUT THIS SITE
The original idea for this site was by Stephen Tredwell which is run & maintained by Tom Toomey.

The site is all about the History of West Thurrock Power Station that used to be located alongside the River Thames in West Thurrock, Essex, UK in 1993.

It also has lots of topic's and pictures that should be of interest to a wide range of people regarding the daily workings of West Thurrock Power Station and how it was designated to be in West Thurrock in 1947.

ABOUT STEPHEN TREDWELL
Adapting to Technology.
I worked at West Thurrock for 6 years, And I had many interesting and varied jobs before finishing as a Kone CSU ( Continuous ship Unloader ) and Coal Plant Operator prior to being made redundant in 1993. After leaving West Thurrock Power Station I had various jobs including going to Bristol Docks, Uk and Canada in the USA, Training personnel to drive the New Kone CSU Unloaders before finally settling down and being accepted back into the UK Power Industry

RWE npower / Tilbury Power Station.
I joined RWE npower in 2003 and I am at present continuing my career as a Kone / Heavy Plant & Coal Plant Operator at Tilbury Power Station located in Tilbury, Essex.

Hopefully with RWE npowers permission at a later date, I would like to expand this site to include some information and staff picture's of Tilbury.

Technology changes our lives and the way we do things.
The site is also about how Technology is sadly interrupting many live's regarding being made redundant and throwing people on the scrap heap unless they are prepared to put themselves out like I did and take up the challenge of further training that will allow everybody to keep up with Technology.

This site will highlight some of the changes that affected me when I was confronted with redundancy, And how I was determined to fight back as I wanted to get back into the Generation Business.
