We defied the Hurricane and kept on Generating.
The Hurricane lets rip
Not even the Hurricane that ripped through the south east of England up rooting trees and taking the roofs of buildings on the 15th of October 1987 could not stop generation at West Thurrock Power Station.
However It did blow rather a lot.
One of the Crane cranes on the jetty toppled over and two more were badly damaged.
We also had trees up-rooted and lots of cladding torn from the station buildings, but the old faithful station still continued generating though the storm and the big clear up operations that followed.
