The Train that took some of the Strain
Let the train take the strain - West Thurrock certainly did.
A short setback
A fault was diagnosed on the generator exciter supplying power to No 4 turbo alternator which could have led to the generator being out of service for a long time with high outage cost.
The Engineers get it sorted.
But the West Thurrock Power Station engineers on site had a brainwave, why not substitute the auxiliary generator for a diesel locomotive which has similar characteristics to the faulty equipment.
The begging bowl goes out
British Rail were approached and agreed to let the C.E.G.B borrow a loco, Number 47155 to be precise.
The next problem was how to transport the loco to West Thurrock as there was no direct rail link to the station.
British Rail comes up with the answer, good old Britsh rail
British Rail had the solution BR came up with the solution.
Why not remove the wheels and deliver it by road using the heavy load specialist Pickford
